Lightbulb Opinions on Rev Kits needed.

Hey guys. When I install my GTP Stage 2 heads I am probably going to run a AFR Rev kit if $$ is there. I was wondering if I should make an effort financially to get the kit or if I will get by with out. I know I can keep it from reving higher but I kinda do want to play with the shift points & rev limiter so I may get it spinning up there..

Opinions appreciatedboldblue

the rev kit is not a bolt on let me rev my engine to 9000 rpm.... modification.

the rev kit is designed to help maintain lifter contact with the camshaft. It is not designed to allow the use of a lighter or weaker valvespring. it is not designed to correct valve float.

It is a safety upgrade, as i call it.. to help take some of the load off the springs. To help everything work together and last longer.

If you use the correct valvesprings for your camshaft, if you have servicable lifters with low milage that can handle the increased load of a tougher valve spring, i see no reason to upgrade to a rev kit, unless the money is there and it is used as a precautionary measure.

I personally do not run the kit. and have had no problems.

I run CCA-950-16 valve springs.

The hydra rev does help keep the lifter on the cam, it adds 30lbs closed and 52 open to the lifter body. I installed mine when I did cam/heads, so I don't know if there really is a difference. I know I have NO upper rpm issues.

My personal problem with that kit is it loads the lifters to much ALL the time. The springs are much more then needed and I have seen them broken and only held in place by the Push rods.

When i ran My Solid roller ten years ago I used one. I snapped a Crane Roller rocker in half and it saved the motor.

Other then that no real need.

I use K-Motion K-800s no problems shifting at 6,900 on stock lifters.

Only problem I am having is stock injecters hit 100%PM at 6,000. 30# go in tomorrow

Thanks for the info.. You say your stock injectors are at 100% at 6,000 rpms. I was wondering if you were able to notice them maxed out at the track. I feel like my car is a bit flat up around 6,000 rpms & was thinking it may be fuel related. It didn't really feel like valve float but it did feel like something. I know the last time I had a FP Gauge on the car it wouldn't go any higher then 38psi & feel my stock fuel pump may be getting tired. Thanks:thanks:

actually I could not feel it but it shows up in the dyno graph. When matched to the scan it clicks. The car feels good and strong but the AFR starts to go up. on the graph it levels a bit till 6,200 then starts to climb again. I peak at 6,800 and gaining 20more hp.

I found a set of 28# GN injectors I am going to run

Know anyone who wants a NEW set of flow matched 30# Accel injectors
