my 1981 Z28

well new to the board an of course i need advice, the guy i got the car from had removedthe front of the engine water pump alternator power steering pump to peplace the timing cover, well now i have the the cover back on new balancer(don't ask), water pump, alternator back on, um where in the hell does the steering pump bolt to, an where can i get the bolts for it? any help would be great. thanks

it bolts on the drivers side of the motor on a goofy looking bracket. I think it is supposed to hold the power steering and A/c, not sure but it looks weird. hope that helps, in some weird way

Yup, SKS is right...beat me to it again......Drivers side, on the top half of the motor.

power streering

they are correct on its location there are to brackets involved one bolts to the front of the bolck the other is the weird looking one that goes from the back of the pump to the exhaust manifold bolt first bolt on the drivers side i beleive the one on the block is a 3/8 16 thread not sore of the lenght

didn't work goin to the junk yard to look at some parts, was goin to go with the march system for the new motor anyway.

well that was a waste of 15 dollars(for the lower bracket) an it still doesn't fit. if anbody can post a pitcure of the pump an or how the brackets come into play i'd be thank full. see my next post about the wires.

march does a "cost reduced" pully & bracket set for about 350 dollars. its air craft alloy then powder coated a cast color.

alright, back with pics like promised.




Hope that helps, I took a couple of different angles to show what it is. It looks like there is another part where a compressor would bolt up, but I removed it.
