Angry Dont know where to put my money

I just baught a 96 z28, it has a 3.73 gear put in, a borla catback exhaust, and a functional z-style ram-air hood. I have about $3,000 and dont know what to do next. Without N2O what would be the best way to put the money into my car. I want to improve my quarter mile as much as possible with that money. Someone please help. thanx

I can get rid of your money for ya....

Just kidding, Welcome to the site.

What is your goal in the 1/4? Are you wanting to do this N/A or with power adders?

I would suggest heads/cam/ headers/ and a few other basic bolt-ons would give you big improvements.

stall, headers first. Then with what you ahve left over and can do maybe a cam only. Who knows..with the right prices..picking up used headers, etc. you may even bay able to get some heads in there too.

How much will the stall and headers cost? and will i need a good pair of tires to run the stall? And are these bolt on mods or will i need to pay for installation too?

you're not gonna get much of a stroker package for 3 g's...maybe that'd cover parts ..the most...defintley not w/ machining..matching the heads...etc etc...and from my experience...strokers w/o all the other bolt on goodies are blahh...that's y i'm still not runnin the #'s i want in my 396..too many restrictions

get your stock heads ported by someone reputable, a cam package(cam, lifters, springs, 1.6 RR) a vigilanty stall(dont go higher than 2800-3000 if its a daily driver), drag radials.
heads ported $400
cam package $650
stall $700
drag radials $400
After install, shipping and handling, mounting and balancing, you might have enough money for gas to drive your new low 12sec street beast, but you will deffanetly be happy with it. if you could do it all yourself(dont attempt the heads) I would go with headers as the next Item on the list.

all that work and not letting it breath is gonna hurt the hp big time. Headers are a very important peice of a heads/cam buildup. I seen(on a chassis dyno) long tube headers pick up 30 hp and 50 ft lbs of torque over AS&M shorty headers on a heads/cam car. My guess is that stock manafolds would hurt you up to 50 hp and 70 ft lbs of torque.

Its the full combination of parts..not the individual parts that make a car fast.
