Camshaft Install Prices...
Hey everyone ..i have a 93 z28 A4 and i have purchased a edelbrock camshaft..the install prices (without tune) have been from 700$ to 2000$..i would do it myself if i had the time/patience...the specs are EDL-2108 --- 218@ .525/ 218@ .525 (1.5RR)--- 112 LSA --- 1500-5500 RPM..i dont even know what that means..lol...but thats them...umm...i have a k&n fipk a hypertech chip flowmaster muffler and cat delete pipe..stock otherwise..i would of gotten something else before the cam but got it through my work for only 200$ brand new ...so...anyways does the install price seem fair...plus will i NEED to modify anything else for my car to be able to handle that cam...is it mild or big ..i dont know someone help

might check into gears a bit later...but cam install is quite spendy...I got qouted 1500 for heads and cam install...so I think $700 is decent...try to find some race shops around you and see their shop and see if they know what they are doing...best of luck
But i say...save the money and do it yourself...plenty of help for you on here too...

cam swap needs the right springs, pushrods, and you might as well get bigger rockers....1.6 ....an exhaust system well let you hear and feel your cam alot better....do not forget a tune...this is a must....a mail order tune is good or you can get a dyno which is the best i think....something that is not a must is suspension mods....however with out them you will spin the tires everytime you try to launch from a stop.

you dont necessarily need the 1.6rrs. Your lift with that cam will be good enough with the 1.5rrs. 1.6 will take your lift up to .560 if I did the math right...should be close...and you can do those later...when it fits in your budget.
But when they do the cam install...they charge for new gaskets with roughly 25-50% mark up on parts...and hopefully the prices are with the tune and everything so its a full job. Make sure for that cam that you have everything you need to make it function properly i.e. headers, gears, stall and what not. I would hate for you to choke out your engine for the sake of budget. Do some research on it and call up the vendor for it and ask them stuff like that...see what you come up with... James
