Question clearance issues?

i am building am motor. Its going to be a standard bore and stroke. (VERY mow mile block) Anyway its going to have speed-pro 2256 pistons, which are flat top with 4 reliefs. The block has not been decked at all. The heads are cartek stage 2. They have 2.02 and 1.60 valves. I am unshure if these have been milled. i am going to run the cc305 cam with 1.6rr. Does anyone have a similiar set up or have any idea if there will be clearance issues with the valves and pistons?

thanks
chris

Its always best to check the clearances but no I dont think you will have any issues. I was running the same size valved your running with milled heads and a zero deck block and didnt have any issues. I also am running 4cc valve relief pistons. I actually just switched over to heads with 2.08 intake valves with the same block and same pistons and with a .040 gasket I have .120 clearance

I'm running milled heads and a zero decked block with a .026 head gasket with a similar lift cam. I don't remember my exact clearance, but it's a still a pretty good margin. you shouldn't have any problems.

You can do it a few different ways but I let the machine shop do mine just to make sure it was correct since I am running the new heads once the motor gets back together. One way to check is using modelers clay and putting the clay on the top of the piston. Bolt the head on the car just as you would when assembling the motor. Then you turn the motor over by hand and take the head back off. Then you pull the clay off in one piece and mic check the indentions that the valves made. Another way to check it is by using a weak valve spring, which there are kits sold that has a weak spring and a plastic rocker. This way you bolt the head up just as normal and I cant remember the exact degrees you check it but you go a little after TDC and a little before BDC and push the valve spring in by hand using a mic on the spring itself seeing how far the spring moves before touching the valve. A good number to shoot for in the clearance department is .100 from everything I have read. If you want the write ups do a search on Google and you can find some really good info. This is the way I found out how to check the clearances before I decided to let a professional do it
