Percy's Split Lock Bolts

I posted this a few days ago under a different thread and got no responses. I'm looking for a set of header bolts that are easy to install and won't need retightening because of them backing out.

------

Has anyone had or got any feedback on Percy's Split-Lock header bolts? I've had a hard time deciding what type of bolt to use that won't back out. I've heard the ARP bolts back out (even if you chase the thread). I've heard the Stage 8 are a pain to install. I just ran across the Split-Lock. What do you guys think?

I have the Breslin split locks, which is the company, design, or patent, that Percy's bought. I don't have any experience with the Stage 8's. If you're looking for a locking bolt, I would guess the Percy's are a much better design. I know it won some awards when it was introduced by Breslin.

I had to grind down the box end of a 3/8" 12 point wrench to get it between some of the primaries and bolt heads.

With the aluminum, do they gall the threads at all?

I would actually recommend getting on ebay and searching for "nascar style header bolts"

These are a small head bolt and make installation a billion times easier. Tighten them down and retighten/check once a week for about a month and you will never have to mess with them again.

The righten and recheck once a week for a month goes the same for even locking bolts as they will still loosen.

How easy is it to get the safety wire through the bolt heads?

The Nascar style ones do not have a locking mechanism on them.

As for the ones that do have the locking mechanism on them it is a PITA to get them on. At least my experience with the Stage 8 locking header bolts it has always been a pita and alot of people eventually just don't put the locks on them at all when they find out what a PITA it is.

I can't say either way with absolute certainty. They aren't expanding a great deal when you lock them. If you want a locking bolt, I think it's the best design available.
