Fel-Pro 1470 header gasket - install which direction?

Stupid question ... The Fel-Pro 1470 header gaskets dont have
stampings on the gasket, or the cardboard sleeve they came in,
describing which direction they are to be installed.

Does the smooth, printed side face the engine or face AWAY
from the engine? (Kooks headers going on today).
