OTA heat shield

ive got a borla catback and cant seem to get the OTA pipe to sit good enough to avoid the heat shield. does this area get hot enough to do any damage if i remove this thing. anyone do it before?

theres no way there is enough heat back there to start a fire. ive taken heat shields off of cats before, thats a helluva lot hotter than the OTA pipe. im just curious to know if anyone has done this and if any damage would happen to say, the carpet maybe.

maybe so, but your fuel tank isnt right next to the cat either.

true but the heat shield doesn't cover the tank-side of the exhaust. Only the floor pan side

I've been bending it in all different directions and nothing has changed. like i said the heat shield only protects the floorpan side. this is why i was thinking of removing, i just dont want to singe the carpet

pull the carpet inside the car and lay down some thermal insulation.

You can also just trim a little off the heat shield to make it fit. But I would leave it since it does cover the gas tank.
