Any headers will help, but LT's will net you the most power. I'm partial to Hooker, but pacesetters will do just as well. And, when you decide to dump a 350 in there, you will want the best headers you can get.

HELP!!!!

Header install on a 1995 Z28 383 Stroker.

The drivers side went in great!!!!!

Passengers side is a different story. the passenger side is cramped, the alternator has been removed as well as the starter and valve cover and we still can't get enough space to slide the header in to place.

Is there any other way then to jack up the motor? or is that my only option?
THANK YOU!

That's your only option. Disco the the nut that holds the trans mount to the x member and the engine mount cross bolt on that side, and lift the engine with a cherrypicker. Otherwise, use a large piece of wood under the oil pan to distribute the weight evenly, and jack from underneath the oil pan.

IIRC, I went in from the top when I had to do mine- it's been about 2 years. If you already have the starter out, it may be a wash though.

Go custom- that's what I did on mine. Probably cost about as much, too. Any competent exhaust shop should be able to fabricate it.

Running either Headman or Flowtech shorties- I honestly don't know for sure b/c the person I purchased them from didn't. I purchased and sold a pair of Flowtech's on ebay about a year ago, and they didn't bolt up to my y pipe at all, so I assume that they are not Flowtechs, but you never know.

At the time, I was going with new 3" all the way back anyway, so I figured a new Y pipe would just be water under the bridge in the grand scheme of things.

I'll be changing to LTs when I go to my 383, I currently have the Hooker shorties with a modified stock Y. I'll also be going to true duals with x pipe as well.

True duals on a 3rd gen is a touchy subject, I've seen pics but havent seen it in person, go to www.3rdgen.org they have a really well written article on exhaust systems for our cars, headers too
