the wife says it aint loud enough!!

how hard is it to make a first generation with a mild built 327 to have that deep throaty sound like the newer camaros and mustangs? is it possible? right now i have true duals with regular old turbo mufflers mounted ahead of the real axel. the wife says its not load enough.
so do you have to have big diameter pipes and a certain kind of muffler? any one know? thanks

its the turbo muffler thats killin ya. Go w/ flowmaster if you dont care about performace, and go w/ magnaflow if ur performance minded. If you dont mind cost im sure borla, or slp sell some mufflers for your car, not sure about the whole catback, but id imagine any muffler could work.

go to www.flowmastermufflers.com for a peak at there muffler line. with your car, id go with the super 40 2 chamber. they use to have it so you could listen to some of there mufflers on differant cars.

does the car have headers?

A set of long tube headers would be a place to start if it doesn

I run 40-series Flowmasters on my built 327 and it's pretty loud and throaty. If you really wanna be loud just unbolt the pipe and run it straight out the collectors...hehe

also, it's not really been mentioned, if you have headers, a plus, now make the pipe at least 2.5" in diameter, and put the Flowmaster, 40 series right before the rear axle, and have 2.5" turn downs towards the ground....best setup for sound in a first gen.

yes the car has headers on it. i was thinking of the flow masters with no tail pipes, just have the mufflers before the rear axel and thats it.
