go to www.flowmaster.com they have sound clips of thier mufflers. why have an H or X pipe? just run true duels, straight from the headers.
thats what i have on my 68. i just took off my turbo mufflers and im waiting for my F 40's to arrive anyday.

Get the flowmaster 30's it's the loudest or the flowmaster super 40's not quite as loud but loud enough good sound.

get original 40 series, not Super 40, or Delta, and use 2.5" diameter pipe...

if i were you i would get the flowmaster 30's with the same size pipe as the header collector are and run an h pipe. you need the h or x pipe to smoothe the flow and you will make more power with an h or x than just stright

Try this one out, it's a race muffler from what I was told by the previous owner:

its up to you, you said you wanted it loud, try it both ways. as some as my 40s get here (should be today or tomorrow) thats what im gonna do. i like the whole exhaust system, but i will try it by dumping right before the rear axel, to see which we like better.
if it sounds better with no tail pipes then im just gonna get some turn downs to put on the mufflers and leave it at that.

well, i got my 40's on tonight, i wasnt able to run it with the tail pipes on because the flow masters were a tad bit longer than the old mufflers were. so i need to nip alittle off of the tail pipe.
without the tailpipes it sounds real good, but i dont know how loud you want it. im gonna run it for awhile and see how well i like it, before i mess with the tailpipes.
