There are plenty of different kits availiable or you could always have one custom fabbed. Why is it you want the turbo to sit where the battery goes?? Does it need to be single turbo?? Is this for your LT1?? Do you have all the supporting mods for FI?? Lots of things need to be answered to give the best answer to your question. FI is a big step, but dam it sure is fun

well i was building my lt1 right know im planing on a 383 all forged port polished heads 58mm throtal body lt4 intake i havent picked the cam yet and i like the way it looks when the turbo is sitting were the battery sits i seen them for the ls1 but never for the lt1. if i have to ill bend all the pipes my self thats not a problem i just dont want to buy a crap load of pipping on top of that i would have to custom fab the headers and thats even a bigger pain in the A$$ im planing on pushing about 15 psi out of the turbo. for the tranny i just rebult a turbo 400 i took out of a older chevy. i dont think ill have any problems with the engine as long as its all forged and i was thinking about doing a only a single but it can be a twin that just means more power

My suggestion would be to get in touch with a turbo dealer or install shop and see what they have to offer. Any particular reason why you dont want a super charger??

http://www.airpowersystems.com/ Great twin turbo kits
http://www.ohioforcedinductions.com/...WPROD&ProdID=6 These guys have built some nasty cars
http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com/ Talk to Bob, he knows his stuff about FI, more supercharger than turbo but still knows about it all

Also think about your local speed shops, might be cheaper to buy through them plus your going to need to get it tuned when your done anyhow.

I believe HP Performance has the kit that places the turbo where your battery is located. You may have to double check this, but I think it's for the 98-02 cars, but be sure to double check that.

im a tech at a speed shop here in pa i see a lot of super chargers on the camaros and i would like some thing a little different. + with a super charger you have to build boost over time with a turbo once you hit the gas your at the set psi i can get the turbo for a good price the only thing i need to do is get the right headers for were i want to mount the turbo i dont have to buy the piping i can bend the pipe my self. as for tuning if i dont tune it my self ill have brian from pcm's for less tune it for me. he dose a lot of tuning at my shop so i know he dose a good job. the other reasion i want the turbo is i just put a engine mount turbo on a mustang gt 5.0L and i liked the way it looked and im hoping that it will look good on my z. o i also did a mass air conversion to my z
and thanks for the info

Yeah, ohioforced inductions kits look GREAT! I am seriously interested in their GTO kit for the ole goat after looking at it. Dang shortages of money and being a kid! lol. I guess I now have something to look forward to after I get good and settled in after college with my job.

just an FYI, I have been doing research on OFI on ls1tech and ls1gto, and I have heard that some of the kits have problems and he has been screwing people over. So, take that into consideration if you are interested in those, to me that makes those kits worth about 5000dollars less.

Not to steal the thread, but where did you go to school to become a tech? Also, where are you a tech at? How hard was it to get a job? I am wanting to go to tech school to become a high performance auto tech and a diesel tech as well, and want to work in a speed shop.

Oh, and if you are wanting 20psi on a 383, make sure you get at least a 76mm turbo, I would go a tad larger myself, but thats just me. If you don't, it will get mighty inefficient.

I am looking at either WyoTech or University of Northwestern Ohio. The latter sent me a brochure and I can be a part of the drag racing club, modifiy my own car, tune it, and run it, all using the schools dyno, tuning, tools, and everything. I have just done simple CAI installs and header installs, I am wanting to do a cam swap on the goat, but dad isn't home except for nights and one day on the weekend and we don't have time to do it, since its a two man job. Now, for what it's worth, I have torn down little lawn mower engines and cleaned the parts and got it running again within 1hr and 25minutes in general shop, and that's without a valvespring tool, since the other group was using it. It took me a couple of tries, but a flathead screwdriver and a set of pliers got the spring in and locked.
