the metal flo pac goes under your air filter. You cut out a section of the stock box and slide that metal thing in the hole you create so it'll suck colder air. the free ram air mod is just as good if not better. I think its better because I find it easier to just pop the filter to clean the leaves and crap out of there (and trust me, there WILL be leaves and crap that get sucked up) our cars breathe DEEP. But thats just my opinion. Everyone will have their own.

Definately spend some cash on a K&N Filter. And turn it around every oil change, because you'll notice a nice line or dirt that shows up from sucking in so much crap. Its best to spread it around. And the K&N will take it a little easier and you can just clean/reoil and call it good (not to mention they breathe much better than the paper filters)

If your car is an SS do you need the lid? I've never seen the setup for an SS so I dunno.

Definately just do the free ram air mod. Its simple, it was done on my car before I bought it. Its easy to do with a dremel tool.

As for the smooth bellows. There are a few threads on cheaper solutions. I've heard of a cheap piece of hose from Home Depot doing the trick but I also heard it got brittle over time but I don't know much about it.

There is a lot of info you can find on here. And a lot of people who don't like to pay up the big bucks for mods that have simple solutions (like the smooth bellows, free ram air, oil catch can to name a few).

If you go with a lid I find myself partial to the clear MTI lid. I haven't picked one up yet myself, but I like the idea of being able to see my air filter. *shrug*

Clear ones are brittle. They are not made from the same plastic and degrade MUCH faster under hotter temps. So buyers beware of the "see through" lids.

The Flow Pac will work on a SS. The actually flowpac comes from SLP with the metal tray, a K&N filter, a new lid, and a smooth bellows. For the price its not a bad deal, though you can go cheaper if you want to. The only thing you will have a problem with is the lid will rub againts the underside of your hood. The ss hood with the scoop has a little less clerance and the lid sits just a little higher so it will rub in one little spot.
