Throttle Body

Is there a plate that covers the bottom of an aftermarket TB? I bypassed the coolant lines on the stocker. Just wondering if that is a vital part of the TB even if I bypassed it already.

I could make a plate if necessary. Thanks, Rich.

the Idle Air Control from your stocker bolts to the bottom of the t/b.

you dont need to replace the coolant piece on the bottom of the TB. If the lines comming off of it really bother you that much just cut em off.

OK, I need the IAC. It looks like crap. What is the part that bolts directly opposite of the throttle linkage?

throttle positioning sensor (tps)

you'll need to adjust it when you get it all installed, and be careful with the IAC not to mess with the spring as you can mess up the whole thing

Yeah, I will be careful with it. I probably wont change it for awhile. I want to change the valvetrain and throttle body at the same time.

Are your heads milled? Do you have a sbc cam? I thought stock length pushrods were 7.2. I will measure mine of course. (just checking)

heads are milled, technically yes, I have a sbc cam.... the LT1 is a sbc....lol but a custom grind cam will be going in next spring. as well as porting the heads/intake.

all the valvetrain stuff will be done at one time. then its on to forged internals for my roots s/c setup....

Yeah, I am a carpenter and not much of a mechanic. I dont know a whole lot but I can put a motor together with a little help.

My question is: what changes the length of your pushrod and why? Is it the lifters, size of cam and the mill of the head?

It's all about the way that the rocker sits on the valve stem. The rocker ratio can change this as well as non-"stock" LT1 lifters, and a small base circle cam. I'm sure there are other reasons, but here are a few.
