It should drop 3-10lbs when at idle. You can test for WOT by pulling the vacuum source on the FPR, this should give you back your 3-10lbs of pressure. If the pump is doing as you are thinking, you would slowly lose pressure at the schrader valve until your engine dies. I think it is entirely plausible what you are suggesting about the pump reducing pressure as your fuel gets lower ... the fuel is how it cools itself. If it were to start heating up a little bit, it might lose efficiency and therefore lose pressure. I think Rob has some suggestions on his site (
