Installed SLP FlowPac (Some Clearance Issues)

Just installed the SLP FlowPac. Hard to feel the difference around town but there is definitely an improvement. On the highway its very apparent. Drop a gear and mash the throttle to pass and you can feel the additional power.

Below is the before and after pics:

AFTER:

I am having a clearance problem with the SLP Lid. It hits my hood and left a scratch mark. See pics below:
Notice scratches at the top of the lid:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j3...uly2006056.jpg
Notice white scratches in the center of the under hood pic:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j3...uly2006057.jpg
Is there a felt pad or something with an adhesive that I can attached to the hood or airbox to provide a cushion and also hold up to the under hood temps?

I also have another question...is the stock opening in the front of the air box suppose to be sealed to prevent any hot air from the engine bay from entering the intake (hence cold air intake)? I couldn't figure out what this rubber seal gasket was for, I thought it might be for that. (http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j3...uly2006049.jpg)

Other than that the install was easy. i would recommend a friend to give an extra hand. The plastic push pins were hard to remove at times...the one attached to the AC condenser broke on me...I didn't bother replacing it.

Don't cut the plastic with a dremmel...it leaves a mess. All it does is melt the plastic. I also bought the IAT sensor and grommet separately.

Pics of plastic after I used the dremmel:

Hope this helped any new guys with their install. Bottomline...there is a difference.

If it hits the hood it is not fully seated back. Its is kind of a PITA at first but you get the hang of it afterwards. Trust me I had the same exact issue.

How can I move it back? It's as far as it will go in the slots behind the air lid. And the front clamps fit perfect (a little tight) so I didn't think the lid wasn't seated incorrect.

did you make sure that the brackets that go over the radiator are in place?

I thought it was seated right when I put it back together. I'll have to check it again.

You guys still use the plastic air filter tray right? The one that fits above the plastic section that was removed to allow air from below. I was thinking that the new k&n filter and rubber sealer might have raised it slightly. But the radiatior area I need to check. I would imagine if the radiator area wasn't right the front bolts wouldn't line up.

The unit looks like it's seated on the radiator correct.

Where does the 15 1/2 inch rubber seal get attached to? The instructions only say to install on the underside of the filter base and refers to Diagram A which doesn't tell me anything.

Is this worth $26 for a 5hp gain or any gain for that matter?

Air-Temperature Module, Various V8 Applications

This module plugs in between the air temperature sensor and its harness connector. It tells the PCM air to provide maximum spark advance (usually a 1 to 2 degree increase). Proper knock sensor and other engine sensor functions are not compromised. SLP suggests the use of premium grade fuel with this modification. A 5 to 7 horsepower increase is possible. Call for the most up to the minute vehicle applications. This item works on stock or modified engines HOWEVER it is NOT for use with custom PCM calibrations with advance spark timing. NOT legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles.

NOTE: For use with stock MAF sensors and stock tuning.

I did the strut tower brace and the DD SFC at the same time. Both made a noticable difference. Chassis became more rigid and the steering was more precise.

Did you put in the ram air piece. I can't see it in the pics. That helps a lot.

I did install the stainless steel air duct. But I don't know where to install the rubber seal. I install the foam seals but I have no clue where to put the rubber seal. And it does make a difference. Exhaust sounds a little deeper also.

So did you cover the stock factory opening?

no i did it just as the foam seals were, not covering any opening just on the plastic piece across from the foam seal, furthest side from the engine..
