98 3.8 ... i was going to work today and noticed my headlights and dash lights were like srobing kinda fadeing in and out. and the amp gauge was jumping. i had my batt and alt tested and both were good.. any ideas on what the prob is?? and i checked my batt connections they were tight???

thats something new. that would of looked like an alt. or bat. problem. but if yours are good than?...

I had the exact same problem in our 2001 Blazer, I asked a GM mech thats in our local club about it and here was his reply.
"Well that does sound like a typical delco alternator problem. It is charging that is not a problem. But what happens is the rectifer inside the alternator starts going bad. The windings of the alternator produce a ripple pattern as viewed by a ocilliscope. When the rectifier starts to go this pattern gets larger & more varable. The voltage as well, in small increments. The result, pulsing lights. Usually the interior lights are the first thing you notice. You can prolly plan on putting an alternator in it in the future, it will prolly last for a little while though. I'd keep an eye on it, & maybe think about a battery if it is OE. The heat is what kills this stuff."
