Cheap Drilled/Slotted Rotors

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220127212690

I bought something similar off ebay. They look exactly like those, just a dif company. Coupled with ceramic pads from Autozone, they work excellent for me.

I've heard (not seen), that the drilled and slotted OEM rotors will crack between the holes if you have to brake hard, but I plan on getting them next time I'm up for rotors.

One thing you want to look out for when buying rotors si where they were made. A lot of companys buy rotors made over seas and the quality of the metal is not that good. even though they are made to oem specs they will make a lot of noise and not stop as good or last as long.

personally I think of brakes as being rather important to stopping, and id be more concerned with quality over price. seeing as not stopping in time can mean injury for you or others.

drilled and slotted rotors are pretty much myth busted in terms of performance these days

They do give a little better stoping but on our cars they wont make a difference. Your better off spending the money on a good set of pads.

Just keep a close eye out for cracking between the drilled holes. You get what you pay for most of the time and brakes is something I'm not willing to chance.

the cracking between the drilled holes happens due to design. The key was that in earlier attempts at cross drilling they weren't chamfering the holes (beveling the edge of each hole so that there isn't a sharp edge). Once they found this design flaw they started to chamfer the holes and all was well.
With a normal set of pads they theoretically should work just fine, but with a set of ceramics there are kind of unneccessary because ceramics don't let off nearly as much gas as the standard brakes.
All in all I wouldn't put the money into them. Cheap = inferior metal. Regardless of design if you don't use high quality metal they'll end up warping on ya. They should hold up for a few years though. I personally go with Bendix brakes, I know they're american steel and they are high quality and OEM for a lot of makes. just my 2C though

They are a machine shop just like mine and we pick up our metals locally. What metal do you consider superior?
