Decal suggestions needed

Hey guys, this is gonna be my first of many purchases for my new 02 z28. I wanna pick up some nice decals for the rear, and i'm open for suggestions. I'm thinking the chrome mirror finish is what everyone goes for, but i'm liking the whole reflective thing at night... any suggestions for a navy blue camaro??

Scroll down for the color options.. thanks guys

You wanna know what would be sick on that nbm vert? Let me tell you.....a berger panel with the camaro filled in and an old skool z28 emblem in the middle. That would be bad ass!

Oh and while your at it, !molding and !emblems.

Pull the stock plastic grill and bolt up a billet grill painted to match the berger panel.

All the above can be done in your driveway for under a hundred bucks. Or contact Rick(RyattMotion) and he can do it for you for a cost.

Yes, that's what I would do!

oh wow, totally different approach. Your the man jblindy.. dunno where i'll find a nice berger panel... also, i don't know if i'm allowed to have anything on the front grille, i think you need 2 license plates on your car, here in ny. Sounds like a sick idea though... in the meantime, i might just pick up the off-white reflective... until i can find a panel i like.. plus, they're only 10 bux off ebay..

i'm not familiar with molding... i ebay'd around, seems like only molding i can find is for 67 - 81' camaros... fill me in?

You don't need to find a berger panel, it's already on your car. Just pull the rear panel off, fill in the letters with bondo, sand it, primer it, and paint it. Some people go gloss black, some prefer satin, I went flat black. Do a search on "berger+panel" and you'll see what various people have done. Most people do the painting in their driveway, or you can have a bodyshop do it. It cost me 70 bucks to have my panel and grill painted by a bodyshop.

About the front license plate, you can still do the billet grill if you order the slp license plate mounting bracket. Check slponline.com. Or many people have mounted their plate to the airdam or just threw it up in the window. Illinois requires a front plate also, but I have went for over a year without being hastled.

!molding is short for removing the side molding. Do a search for !molding and you'll find lots of info.

!emblems is short for debadging. !=remove.

As for the emblem I suggested for the berger panel here you go.....

Check my ~~~Motortopia~~~ out and you'll see what I have done to my car. There are many different directions you can go, it all depends on what you want. AND all of it can be done for cheap. You can totally change the look of your car for under a hundred bucks.

I ordered the emblem jblindy suggested. It looks real nice, can't wait. So in the meantime, i guess i'll start re badging with some floss or fishing line? and use that 3m adhesive removal. Oh, if i'm willing to paint on my own, what kind of paint can i use, assuming i want to go with a black rear panel? I'm hoping i can use standard tools to pop that panel off. Also checked out the billet grills, all looks sweet.

In regards to the lid issue and all, i like how your volant looks jblindy.. It's a bit pricey but for me it's between the volant cai or mti clear lid. .

ophee,
There are 4 10 or 12mm nuts holding that panel on. Its a piece of cake. Just take off the tail lights (2 wing nuts each) and then the 4 nuts and off it comes. Nice and simple.
You can use any paint you want, I always prefer using automotive spray paint (duplicolor always seems to work well for me). But I would do some good research on timing between coats.

Jblindy,
Thanks for explaining the berger panel. I've never actually figured out what it is. I'm not entirely sure I'd want to do it but now that I know what it is I might have some crazy ideas. I really wish it wasn't my daily driver, I can't leave anything off for very long and I've got no garage so I have to be careful of which days I do it because of bad weather. *sigh* And thanks for the license plate for the billet grill tip off... I really want a different grill and now I can actually do it.

Jay

For decals, keep in mind that Chrome vinyl is a mylar product. So, when you remove it, it will be like removing brittle, dried leaves that have been super glued on. Chrome (Mylar) doesn't last as long a reflective either. I use it from time to time, even have some on my truck, but it does have it's limitations. LQQKS good (While it lasts).
