Running w/out a Hood

Chances are pretty good I may need to drive from Louisville to Cincy (about 1 1/2-2 hours/interstate) without a hood (one way, ). Will this hurt anything or should I not do that?

Thanks.

Its going to really hurt aerodynamics which will also effect gas mileage. I don't think it will effect much other then that. I just wouldn't go to fast.
Now why are you needing to go to cincy with out a hood?

you'll end up getting some serious drag so I wouldn't go too fast. It'll sure help with cooling though. And the cops may not like it (as I'm pretty sure they frown upon that sort of thing).
I've never actually seen a car do that, I've seen honda's with clear hoods... but never no hoods. And I've run my 81 Trans AM with out the shaker portion of the hood (because I was having timing issues and throwing fireballs out of the carb which was pretty awesome. Just hope it doesn't rain.

i believe he is wanting to know bc he is picking up another hood hence the (one way ) so he is wanting to know if anything in the engine bay will be bothered by driving too quickly without the hood on...? idk, i about had to do it, but it would have been a 7 hour drive so i just took a truck instead.

Drive with the hood on, then put it in the back of the car. Dont ask but yes it fits in sideways

You can do it, there is nothign that is is really going to hurt except for gas milage and high speed stability will probably not be all that great.

Make double sure your lid is clamped on there, those clips and the wind blowing could shoot your lid right off. Other than that, you'll be running super cool!!

my cousin back home drives his mustang around all the time w/o a hood, (he's waiting on his 6" cowl to come in. oh, and he's got a carb'd 502BB wedged in there with a 4" air breather)

the only thing he has ever had to do was make a plastic mold around it that opened in the back so it wouldnt hydrolock in the rain.
I would imagine, as long as your stuff is fastened down well, you shouldnt have a prob. but def take pics while ur out! and keep an eye on the weather.
