stock speakers...

Their are VERY few flaws that come with the camaro... One in which is the window motor, always ****** dying out! This is my 3rd camaro and i'm starting to think the stock speakers are another.

They just don't sound good. I've got the monsoon HU and all, but the left side speaker rattles like crazy, and the bass isn't even on HALF! Do i just replace the stock speakers? Or is this a more in-depth issue. I'm not too car audio savvy. Any suggestions? I don't want any crazy sound system goin on.. just somethin i can cruise to some classic rock to.

Thanks again guys

I'll agree with you there. I had to cut the tweeters out on the rear speakers because they were causing serious distortion (though I don't believe they were stock). I believe they are Pyle "Blue Dot" speakers. Which I don't remember pyle to be a good brand name. But I have the same issues... monsoon HU and the speakers rattle bad. Anybody else?

Yeah they didnt use Monsoon until 98 I think.

My monsoon speakers had already been ripped out and aftermarket installed so I dont know..

If they are just rattling just make sure the screws are tight.

Hey... i tried the other day to pop that **************** speaker harness off to tighten the screws, but had a hell of a time doing so. I could get the side-slots off, but the upper and lower slots DON'T freakin' move... i made some nasty marks that i just don't want to add on too. Does this mean i have to remove the whole door panel !?!?

I tried tugging downwards on the upper-mid section of the speaker grille, but no luck... anyone ?

on really hot days (especially if my car is parked in the sun) my trunk cd changer will play the cds all distorted. i thought it may have been the heat warping the disc surface but they play fine in my indash player. it's really weird. right now i'm riding around with the cd changer carousel in my glove box and playing them 1 by 1 through the head unit lol

GM actually issued a service write up on the rattling speakers...on some models from 98-02 there is a piece of felt/foam anti-rattle strip on the speaker cages that may or may not have been installed from the factory or the adhesive has worn out and it fell off into the bottom of the door. my personal experince is the strip is there but when the speakers try to reproduce low bass sounds the speakers distort...which more than likely means blown speakers.

Most people don't replace with the stock speakers. With the monsoon system the front speakers are component meaning the tweeter and woofer are wired seperately. You can replace it with an alpine speaker(can't remember the number). They are cheaper than stock speakers too. It is a coaxial speaker but you are able to do some rewiring to seperate the tweeter and woofer. I will post up a link on how to do the install later when I get home from work. It's really pretty easy and well worth it. I just did it a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier.

THANK YOU LS1DER!!!

somws6... I'd go with either the Infinity 62.7i... Which is, just like the stock speaker, a dual input speaker. But it's 2ohm.... . Not a problem, as they run from the HU.

Orrrrrrr... this is coming directly from the link LS1DER posted. ....

Fronts:
Alpine SPS-1005 Tweeters
Alpine SPS-170A 6 1/2's

For the fronts I chose the Alpines because they have a fairly low RMS requirement, and are always a good choice of speakers for deck power. They are also very efficient. Note these are 4 ohm speakers where the factory ones are 2 ohm

You're very welcome. Those infinity's are kind of high price wise. The alpine #sps-17c2 can be had for around $40 on ebay or amazon. They have changed the model # from the 170's
