body/paint assembly order
Hey guys,
Need some advice. I was originally going to assemble all the fenders, etc and send that out to for paint, while I worked on the motor, which is currently sitting on an engine stand. However, I've been watching some of those car shows and it looks like most of the time, when working on a 68 Camaro, they attach the subframe, install the engine/tranny, then assemble the fenders, etc, and then off to the paint shop. my question is: should I be doing it this way or will it be easy enough for me to drop the motor/tranny in after the body is back from paint?? |

I'm planning on having the front body parts painted off the car. That way I can't make a mess of them putting them on and I know I have complete paint coverage on the parts. When I pulled mine apart, I found numerous places where the parts met that had rust on them....

Never was able to do it, I spent the entire day finishing up the suspension on my old white SS.

I have never done this with new paint, but I have put 3 engines in my '69. It seems pretty easy to drop the engine in from the top, then do the tranny from underneath. I have never hit any body parts in this process personally.
