as for shop costs.. its really up to where you go.. if there is frame damage your looking at spending a LOT of money

Why the hel* do you have to pay for it if he hit you? If there is frame damage, it gonna be a lot.

Honestly, an insurance company would most likely total that.

To take it to a good, reputable shop, you're looking at spending more than the car is worth. I took mine to a place and all I did was roll into a truck (e-brake gave out) and they quoted me $2,700.. I laughed my way out the door.

I would check for alignment issues, frame damage, etc, then consider doing it yourself or asking a friend (or a friend of a friend) in the auto body industry.

Good point, they may total it.

It's hard to tell from a picture but since it didn't actually hit the frame rail itself the frame damage would be very minor but it looks like it does have some side sway in it. The most expensive part will be replacing that upper rail, strut tower apron, and radiator support. Around here you'd be looking at about 1500-2000 just in frame work. Not including paint or getting any body panels fit up. But I'd say we're probably cheaper than it is in cali. To bad you're all the way out there, Thats some good side work.

did you see the car that hit you? File a police report?

This was quoted at over $10,000 damage (there was frame damage though)

its totaled. I got an estimate to paint and fix a dent behind my door for $3000. You have a lot more damage.
You need hood, fender, bumper, inner fender, bumper supports, rewire that side of the front end, plus to be done right replace the radiator support. Then your looking at painting. And that all assumes theres no frame damage.

first off, did they find the guy that did it? shoot him.

secondly, the ins will more than likely total it. if they choose to do so, find out what they will sell it to you as a totaled/salvage title. then make it a drag car.

if they dont total it, check for frame /alignment issues. either way its gonna be a pretty penny
