Body line pictures..finally

K i posted awhile back about having some body lines not lining up and i finally got around to taking some pictures of it. In the first one you can see how the bumper doesnt come up far enough so there about 3/4 of an inch gap, then theres the left side of the hood which is a bit too close to the side panel compared to the right side of the hood. Anyone have a link or some advice on how to fix this without taking it to a shop? Any suggestions would help guys. thanks.

I'm guessing thats not a real SS hood, but an aftermarket one? I know a lot of guys have problems getting them to line up right, you might have to take it to a body shop and have them work on it.

yeah greg its an aftermarket SS hood, but my original hood fitted like that as well....i just dont want to spend the $$$ and let a body shop do it. Is this to hard of a job to do by myself?

Thats odd that the Z hood fit like that. I have no idea how hard it is to do it yourself, I just know some guys have it done at a body shop. If you have a good one that you trust, just get an estimate, I don't think it would cost that much, I could be wrong though.

The only gap I have fixed on my SS was the gap down by the door and you just had to bend back that piece right behind the wheel.

I wouldn't think it would be that hard if you had a couple friends to help you hold the hood and get it lined up so you could tighten down the bolts. If you mess around w/ it, and can't get it, then it would probably be best to take it to a body shop.

i think its more the bumper though, because the bumper doesnt come all the way up to the headlights either, its just a little bit off..

Almost sounds like its been in a minor accident. You sure it hasn't been wrecked?

I dont think its the hood either...im thinking its been wrecked...looks like the bumpers and fenders are just barely off...idk how hard it would be to take in the fenders just a tad.

My 96 is the exact same way. I am going to adjust the fenders and hood.
It is a slow process. You have loosen all the bolts and start from scratch.
Prob take me a whole day to do mine.

Yea the bumper has been repainted before, so im sure it was in a minor wreck before. but it looks like they fixed it, it just wasnt put on right. Thats why im wondering how hard it would be to take off and where are all the bolts that hold it on.

I took my front bumper off once to put my grille on. It wasn't too bad, you just had to get under the car and undo the bolts and stuff, my step dad and I did it in our driveway.

Now lining up the hood and fenders would be a different story though I think.

Looks like your car rear-ended someone. You need to take it to a body shop and have them pull the front core on it to make everything line up. It looks like it would be pretty straight forward and should not be too expensive if you take the fenders, bumper, and hood off for them. All they need to do is stretch it a little forward and then up and it would line up much better.
