Some of you may remember me, probably not... I had a 94 Z28 and wrecked it in march 2008. I put a crapload of work into that car and loved it but they ins company totalled it out and i decided i didn't want a salvage title car. Bad decision i miss it... ANy how i got a 98 Vette and ended up wanting to lower my payment and get out from under the "vette Tax" (which is real btw). and bought a more sensible car, audi tt. I liked the audi at first... But i'm having some personal issues with it and it's just not what I want. SO TO make along story longer, i want to get a camaro again. I have found a 99Z28 with 33k miles and am very interested. I was wondering if there's anything i should look for on a car that's 10 years old and only has 33k miles. Any way to tell if it's been rolled back, or anything that would wear at say 60-100k miles that shouldn't be worn at 30? I'll probably go look at it soon. It's turning out that my fiance and I are moving very close to her work so I could drive her car in the winter. I really miss this car. I've had 6 in the past 3 years and the Z28 is the one I liked the most (even over the 98 vert vette). So whatever help you can give me I'll also need to find someone to buy my car, hopefully for what I owe on it (~$9500). Thanks in advance, i miss this place!

Hey - I got my 98 Z last year with just a few more miles than yours...
I pulled car fax, asked 9 million questions of the current owner (well not quite that many) and then we drove to VA to check it out.
The main things we looked for were signs of any sort of body repairs. The only thing that needed to be done was replace the plugs and wires.. Check out the tires too, if it mostly sits, it's possible they could be dry rotted if they are several years old. Mine showed a date from 2000 on them and minor signs of drying so I drove for a bit and then replaced them.
There's other stuff that can end up dry just from not being used... Hope it works out for you. Sounds like it might be a good find.

I have a 98z i need to sell lol... but its not a 30K mile body, its a 4K motor and less than 1K on a built trans

IT WOULD BE, but you're in Bama and I'd rather not have to fly, or drive over a handful of hours, this one i a little closer... I'm just going through all this it's happening of course rapidly. Gettin rid of my tt will probably be slow in the making. I wish this was at a dealer (though i'm not a fan of giving them money) so i could trade it in... We shall see. Anything else?

lol I forgot that said cleveland to miami... I never made the move unfortunately. Was planning on going to grad school down there but it fell through. So i'm permanently in Cleveland.

AND if you didn't read that i still have to sell my audi...

How about anything to look for as far as wear? I'm concerned about rollback.

I didnt know you could roll back on a LS1 car... i guess you could swap the clusters....

and If your looking to sell the audi, we have a place here called carmax they buy your car for KBB Value, if its less than 10 years old lol

I just need to start selling some cars before august insurance/taxes hit me hard

I swapped clusters on my 98 Vette, had to when i installed the HUD, but i did the right thing and got my mileage changed over so it wasn't off.

hey just an update. I ended up trading my audi in for an 04 gto. black with red leather. It's a dream! I'm so excited to have a gm again.
