How do I replace the rear speakers in a 91??

1991 Z28 Convertible.

My right rear speaker seems to be blown. Sucks because I just replaced the entire system last summer with Alpine all around and a 5 channel Alpine amplifier mounted in the trunk (75W X4, 300W X1). But maybe the rear speakers are not rated high enough for the power (140 watts peak, 45 watts RMS).

Anyway, how do I replace the rear speakers? Does the grill come off or do I have to remove the whole panel? If so, how do I go about doing this? Is it a hassle? Thanks !!

It's not bad at all. You have to unscrew and remove the coat hanger hooks and remove the screen part. They're sitting right behind that. It doesn't take that long at all and is very easy to do.

Good luck

Edit: just saw it was a 'vert! Not sure how those work. Sorry man. I did it on my '91 but it was a t-top car.

Yeah, no coat hanger hooks. They are in the side panels. Thanks anyway.

I don't know I never had a vert but these cars aren't hard to work on i would start at the door and pull off the plastic peace on the floor of the door and work back from there if it is above the arm rest for the back seat it should be the next peace you pull off. if its not there good luck
