I would just get a lifetime one from autozone. They are usually decent. The install should take you maybe 20 minutes. I think it's 2 either 13 or 15mm bolts then the lead wires that go onto it.

not really. get the car up in the air and supported on jackstands (or a lift if you have one.

pull the two bolts (IIRC they are 17mm) and lower the starter down, pull the power feed cable off and the solenoid cable, swap over to the new one and reinstall. just make sure your exhaust is cool before going at it.

On both of the LS1 cars I have put headers on, we took the starter out. Its not hard to get back in so its gotta be pretty easy to take out. I like the ACDelco starters, but you will have a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. Autozone, napa, or advance auto is lifetime warranty.

Maybe he has not updated his sig in the last 100K LOL just kidding.

Just wondering because it does seem like you have a bunch of problems, did you ever have a car fax report done on the car? Could it be possible that the pervious owner swicthed the gage cluster out with a wrecked low milage car before you bought it?

Either that or it could have sat for a long time and wasn't maintained I guess.
