best way to launch

Hey, Double0z28

How did you heat the tires with the m6 .. do you have a line lock??? I'm going to the track in 2 weeks and need to know if I need a line lock or not

I just revved it up to about 2000 dropped it and hopped on the brakes while getting on it and smoke'em as much as needed . The only problem you sometimes have is getting it a little sidewise, but if you do it right it should stay preety stright, and no i dont have a line lock so you dont have to have one to heat up your tires, but it would make it a little easier.

I put it in 2nd gear for better results (more MPH) then take it to 4000 rpm dump it jump on the brakes, then hold it at about 5-6000 rpm for a couple of seconds, then let off the brakes and roll to the line. No I do not have a line lock. You do not need a line lock for burnouts, it does help on the launch though. I am putting one in this season. Also no the burnouts does not ruin your rear brakes, I just replaced mine after a full season racing, and a year driving the car and they looked almost new.

well i bought my car about two and a half months ago and the previous owner ran a 12.9@110mph at the track. I havent personally run my car at the track yet (hopefully soon though) but on the street when they are warm they hook real well most all of the time (depending on the road) . And no i havent had any problems with my rear end (knock on wood). But my friend blew his rear end, he had 315 nitto's, launched at about 5K( at track), and sprayed off the line (2001 SS).

yeah a stock rear end wouldnt hold up to that sort of launch w/ DR's .. mine will be only 245/50 16's and i'll launch@ like 2-3 grand so im not too worried w/ mine

My friend has the same tire on his car. I beleive he's on his 4th or 5th rear end now. My other friend has a line lock on his t/a. It's cool, but it's not needed. I wouldn't heat up a straight up radial tire b/c it causes the belts to heat up which will cause the tread to "cup" leaving a smaller contact patch, but you may want to do a very mild one to get the water off the tires if you can't go around the burnout box.
