yep, try to pinpoint what area it is coming from then go from there. could be anything. i found a rattle and it turned out to be all the loose change that fell out of my pockets that found it's way under the carpet and rattled against the floorboard in the back. could be anything from loose exhaust to change rattling lol

i had a rattle that sounds similar to yours. i have a 2000 z28 also and my problem was the y-pipe. i ended up buying the slp ypipe and when i put it on...the sound and rattle was gone. i also took my cats off too so that might of helped.

I had a rattle which sounded like it was comming from either my y-pipe or cat area and was more noticable when i was stopped. It turned out one of the bolts in the clamp which held my passanger side header to my y-pipe had come loose. After that was tightened no more rattle! So it could be something small, which is always a relief!

it's probably a loose clamp or something from when they did your cat, did you put your car up on jack stands and make sure everything was tight? while under the car start tapping the exhaust with something to see if the noise came back and where it was from?
