Question about a 2000 Z I'm looking at...
Hi guys, I just had a quick question regarding the worth of a car I'm looking at.
It's a 2000 Z28 6 spd with 75,000 miles It has the police interceptor package and seems to be in good condition. They want $14,995 for it and it seems to be in good shape exterior-wise. I'm going back this weekend to datalog it with my friend and see what kind of shape the motor is in. Questions... 1. What exactly is the police interceptor package? It has a badge under the Z28 and everything so I guess it's a legit package. I've never heard of it. 2. Is a 2000 model with 75k really worth $15k? That's a LOT of miles and I'll be commuting to and from school next year so that's going to pack miles on too. I know these motors are strong as hell and can last forever but I need something reliable. 3. Would you buy it? (I do plan on trying to get him down to 14k or 13.5k) |

I have seen an in service police interceptor camaro. Te nevada highway patrol uses them. Supposed to be fast and tough. I would love to buy one with the lights and everything. Then I could hit the lights and speed "legally."

Yeah, a police interceptor with a manual doesn't sound right....
I'd look into it. And like Anniversary Z said, think if you were in that position, its pretty much like having a rental car if there was a cop driving it. You know how much fun someone would have in a rental Z28? Besides, I don't think that cops take good care of the cars that they use, i've seen the way they drive those things on cold starts. |

I know I'm jumping into this late, but there are 6 speed B4C's out there, just very, very rare. Usually only a dozen or so are made. Model year '02 saw the highest manual production numbers with 125 made. Most of the Camaro's are take home cruisers, and you'd be surprised how well they take care of them. The cruiser is basically their home and office for 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts, so they are looked after (in general). As far as maintenance, the agency kicked out big bucks for what is basically a luxury (for them), so I'm sure they are maintained properly (again, generally speaking). Still, that price seemed a little high. I bought my first B4C back in '01 for $7500, it was a '94 A4 w/82K miles on her. Did the one you were looking at have the B4C code?
