my list of bolt ons

ok guys, right now my 2000 z's hp dyno at 295.6 with just the loudmouth on. here is a list of bolt ons i'm thinking of. input on anything please say.

1. slp cold air induction 10hp

2. trick flow throdle bodie (85mm) 5hp

3. slp lid and box 5hp

4. slp y pipe 10hp

5. headman headers 10hp

6. superchip flashpaq tuners 15hp

total rwhp 55, bringing up to around 350 on the z at rear.

after installed then tuned. of course, bolt ons apply as money appears, so its gona be a slow process.

I wouldn't get the TB, get the ls6 intake instead. I know it's a little more, but it will give you more HP.

ok from what i understand the intake seems like a lot of work to put on. All the bolts need to be tq exact and in correct order right? do the number i posted seem in the ball park of what i can expect?

The LS6 intake is pretty expensive, but well worth it. As for the torquing of the bolts, it's just like any other intake. Take the old one off, clean the heads and block, and put the new one on. You do have to tighten them down in order and to a certain ft-lb. Any manual for your car will show you this. If you need a torque wrench, go to Harbor Freight or any other discount tool store and pick up a torque wrench. If I was you, I would get the ft-lb and the in-lb. they are quite handy when you need them. And, it's really easy to jut bolt on HP

Those are the HP gains as advertised by the product sellers.........I'd bet that you only see about a 20-25 HP RWHP on the dyno

LS6 Intake, Volant lid, Pacesetter longtubes and Texas-Speed Y-pipe, and a dyno tune...will be cheaper than what you posted and yeild more RWHP. This combo should get you up around 330-340rwhp with a good tuner.

ok for the intake, can i do that or dealer? i know a lot of stuff has to come off for this project. also, do i just put the intake on or do i need new gaskets, or anything else (ie: new rods, etc)? also, what tuner do you recomend? everyone here says hypertech is not good. any suggestions?

1. junk, just get a lid
2. just port your throttle body, cheaper and same gains
3. a lid is a lid, they all gain the same hp
4. get a better y pipe that works with vvvvv
5. 10hp from headers? get some longtube headers, pacesetters if you are tight on money, QTP, kooks if you aren't.
6. get hp tuners or have someone who knows what they are doing with hp tuners tune your car.

fyi you may want to invest in a different exhaust when you get longtubes cause the loudmouth will be crap loud and drone bad.

get a lid(doesn't matter what kind they are all the same, some fit better than others, i have an MTI).
get an ls6 intake
get longtubes
get a ypipe that fits your longtubes.
get a tune, handhelds are junk and you won't get the hp that you would by using hptuners or ls1edit

all of this is fairly easy to install if you know how to work on cars. if not there are some howtos on ls1howto.com and installuniversity.com

if you need any help feel free to ask

If you have a know-how when it comes to working on cars then you should be fine. Just beware that you are careful of the oil pressure sender while removing the intake...most people break them if they rush the intake out without looking. Yes, you will need new gasket, they are cheap and WELL worth replacing while in there. You will need a block off plate to block the EGR tube from the exhaust manifold unless you do the longtubes at the same time(01-02 year when ordering). As far as tuning goes, just get a dyno tune. This will garuntee you the best Wide Open Throttle (WOT) and Part throttle gains, as well as it being done by a professional. (alot of people with HPtuner or LS1Edit think they are pro tuners the minute they load the disk into their laptop). Come up with a plan and stick to it. You best bet is to get all of your parts and install at one time. You will feel the total gain at once and save time and money on the tuning.

lm sounds like crap with headers? like too loud or how. i listened to the sound clips and its hard to really get a sound of a car unless you are standing next to it. to me, and this is personal, i dont think my car is that loud even tho some say it is. i want loud and emissions legal.
