Clutch Cruise Control Switch

Does anyone know why that this being correctly adjusted would make my car run better??? The other day I was poking around down there (cleaning for summit) and I thought that maybe the clutch return switch was why my cruise had never worked. Sure enough, I saw it hanging back off the pedal and not even touching it. So, I adjusted it up against and now my cruise works and the car seems to pull harder and run smoother. Any ideas??? I just am wondering if it affects the tune really. This is more curiousity than anything.

Probably just your mind lol. It doesnt effect anything but kicking your cruise out if its not adjusted right.

Well, I was just going through wiring diagrams and it runs to the computer to engage a "clutch anticipation." I wonder if it pulls some timing when it's not engaged. I'm not kidding though, its always been pukey down low, but now its more responsive. It has a full tank of gas even. I went out at lunch and made a quick run with it and its not my mind. I've been driving it the past few days and its the car.

I know it sounds crazy, but on the wiring diagram in the service manual, it shows the wires going to the computer and to the cruise control module. There is clearly something about the "clutch anticipation" thing that makes sense. 98's are an animal of their own for how they are wired. IDK though, I don't wanna sound like some stupid kid, but I honestly think it changed something. If anyone else doesn't have their cruise working, I'd check it out.

There's one easy way to find out put back the way it was and take it out for a drive and see how she goes

I did that. It is definitely slower, so I got my laptop and hooked it up. It doesn't advance the timing as much. About 10 degrees less. Plugged it back in and it adds more timing.

Man 10*! that is a ton! I bet the car feels alot better now.

So are we going to line them up at Summit? I am curious how much of a difference my cam and all the bolt on crap has made. I think a good highway pull will let us know.

Glad you got her running good, (Althrough it was most likely the rims that are making you faster now LOL)

Yeah, the rims gave me soooo much more power. The timing varied a lot but it was at least 6 degrees across the band. I officially have NO TRACTION now.

So does the tune feel good now? I was thinking that you said something about you could feel it pull hard and flaten out, and then come back it.

Yeah, it used to do that. Now its smooth. It was pulling timing from 2200-3500 RPM before. Now it feels great!!!
