I wish I had some drawings on your cars electrical system. I could help you if I did. I guess I'll go buy a Chiltons for LS1 Camaros and have a look. My first guess is you have a short in your harness somwhere in common with the headlight circuit that is being completed to ground when you set the brake. On a side note, I've been to Carrollton in my younger days. I had an Aunt and Uncle there. I don't know if they still live there or not. His name is Dr. William Cantrell.

Did you add any accessories to the car lately Uncle Joe? Because it sounds like something got crossed somewhere. I wonder if the relay for the auto lights has gone bad or is shorting out. Because and as I am sure you know, when the E-brake laever is released, the headlights are supposed to come on in a slightly dark environment including the garage. I will see what I can come up with.

I went and bought a Haynes manual and it is worthless. It's all I could find. No one had a Chiltons for 99- 02. Don't ever buy a Haynes. They are a waste of money. So, I can't help you with the wiring. My suggestion would be, repair the melted connector and see if that solves the problem.

I can never find a Chiltons for at least '01-'02. Hell, I can never even find one for any year of Camaro's.

Did you take your console apart to do the mod?
If you did there is a single ground wire coming from the e-brake that could be your problem.

I think every Camaro owner should invest in the GM service manual for their car specifically. I have one for my 94 and it was the best invested 90 bucks I have spent for it. They are available through www.helminc.com.

I'm willing to bet that it's the DRL connector, because that baby is the hub for the lights comming on and and the DRL's. Now you need to find the gremlin that caused the connector to melt.

not a gremlin,,, a camaro !!!(humor).....i didn't take my console completely apart, but i did run the curly cord under it, now that i think about it, the phone charger quit working about the same time !!!i will pull that stuff out and look for loose ground wire or loose anything, i'm about to try and hook up an amp and a speaker box, this "monsoon" stereo just doesn't thump enough for me.
