We are going to need a bit more info than that. Are the fans just not coming on? How are all of your fuses? Have you checked the relays for the fans? When you kick the A/C on, do the fans come on? If you have a code reader, when you plug it in, do the fans come on?

Then what is the scenario when they don't come on? You're not telling us anything.

Rob will be able to answer this better and exact, but the fans will not come on until about 225*F. I think that is for stage 1 single fan, or low speed on both. Then a little higher, it will kick on both, or high speed. Like I said, Rob will be able to answer that better.

But, if they are not coming on, and your car is getting to 260*F, then you need to check the sensor in your water pump, it may be bad.

That is where I would start. But, the engine has to get quite hot in order to get the fans to come on. When you are going down the road, your fans will hardly ever come on, unless there is a problem with the rad, or air dam. But, if you can splice the wires on the W/P sensor, you can hook up your ohm meter and watch what the PCM is seeing. Take that, and compare it to your gauge inside the car, or even an external mechanical gauge under the hood in the pass head. Just don't let it go over 250, with good antifreeze in the car and you should be fine.

Did you make sure to purge all the air out of the cooling system after the head work? Sometimes it can take a while for all the air to come out, and if the heads were off there was alot of air in there.

Next thing is the factory gauge can be misleading, did the car ever hit the red zone on the factory gauge?

The fans will not turn on (with a/c off) untill right before the red zone. Sometimes it looks like its going to hit the red then fans turn on high speed and cool down. If the fans turn on when scanner and a/c switch is turned on then i dont think its a ecm issue.

You may not be use to how hot lt1 run stock.

Get a 160 thermostate, and make your own jumper harness so you can turn fan's on when you want.

My 1993 overheated in the State Inspection line when I first bought it (antifreeze boiled over and spilled on the floor). The first thing I did was get a 160 deg thermostat (and make sure it opens!). Then when I upgraded the PROM, ADS set the fans to turn on at a lower temperature (I think) Havn't had any problems since. Can't you flash your ECM to turn the fans on sooner?

P.S. I forgot to mention I used the "Water Wetter" additive. For $10 its a deal in my book.
