Wheel Spacers

To be honest I just like the look of wheels that get close to the fender and I was wondering if it is possible to just get some wheel spacers to just move the stock wheels out some. I know it may sound silly and what not, but I think it would also help with handling, right? Correct me if I am wrong but I would get 5x4.75 spacers. If I could do it, what thickness spacers should I get?
