Unhappy Wheel fit from 2001 to 1994 problems

I can't get the rims from my 2001 Z28 to fit on my 94 V6. The V6 has drums on the rear and I think this is the problem because the fronts went on fine. Is this a normal problem or am I doing something wrong? If it is a problem is their any kit or adjustment I can make?

The only thing I have seen is that the axle diameters are different on some. You can grind down the center hole of the wheel, to make it fit. Make sure you get them ballanced afterward though.

Thanks Mykdiver, that is what I have found to be the problem. I am going to have them grinded.

Like Mike said, don't forget to have them balanced after they are grinded.

I wouldn't just grind them, I would use cylinder hone. That insures a nice uniform cut. And yes, the rear hubs on 1993-97 Camaro's are larger, which is why a 98-02 wheel must be altered to fit. Good luck!!

That is the best idea. I ground mine, but then again, I had acess to a grinder.

Just a question but arent the 97's the same as 98- 02. They came with the new style wheel. I sold my old farctory chrome wheels to my younger brother and they fit his 97.

Yeah but Ryatt was talking about 93 - 97 all having the same axel diameter. I was just saying I thought 97's were the same as the 98 - 02 cars.

I think the 97-99 wheels design share the same the larger hub diameter, which is why those wheels probably fit both the LT-1 and the LS-1 body cars. The wheels changed for 2000, and they probably started machining the correct diameter hub. That's the only lojical-splanation I can give (Rickey Ricardo Voice) LOL!!!!!

OK guys you all need to get the Axles right. 93-95 are Bigger,

96-02 are the same Just thought id set you guys straight before you guys go around saying the wrong thing to ppl

if you need more Info go here
( http://www.tacreationsusa.com/rear_differentials.htm ) heres the info from that site

Chrome wheel interference problems on 93-95 F-bodies : Chrome wheels will not fit on rear of 93-95 Camaro & Firebirds due to a lack of clearance between the wheel hub and the rear axle shaft. Factory 93-95 axle shafts have a 70.75 mm diameter hub face, while the 96-02 Chrome wheels have a 70.5 mm diameter hub opening. Minor grinding/machining is mandatory for installing those wheels on 93-95 models.

I had the same problem fitting 2000 rims to my 1995 V6. You're probably best off just sitting and filing the edge down on those little drum rings, just go on the outside of that little 1cm ring...take a few hairs off, (a bastard file or something similar will work) and the new ones should slide right on. Pain in the butt, I know.
