Installed new window lift motor

I Installed a new window lift motor on the drivers side today. Took about an hour, wasn't to bad. I bought the one from auto zone with a lifetime warranty. It seems to be much stronger than the GM one it replaced. If anyone needs help on this install, go to;

$49.00 at auto zone. Part #WL-42014. Works great and has a lifetime warranty.

I just did a search online at auto zone for a window lift motor for a 95 Camaro and it came back the same part number. It is made by Siemans. A much better motor than GM OEM part. I think this motor will fit all fourth gen F bodies.

I just posted in the other forum about window problems. Mine just keeps cutting out on me. I have to wait 4 or 5 minutes sometimes for the window to start working. Was that happening to your window too?

damn it, i wish i would've known about that site about a year ago when i still had my 99. i tried to replace the motor myself and removed the entire assembly inside the door to get to the rivets. i feel like such a tool. ended up putting a couple small tears in the window tint, scraping a few knuckles when i drilled the rivets out and the spring uncoiled, then had no way of putting it back in the door so i ended up paying $300 to have it reinstalled. well, at least i did get the moter from autozone.

Scoulter, thanks for the good gouge...

Question though...my driver's window is doing the exact same thing, and I think there nay be some hardware loose in there anyways- when I did a VIN trace, it said the motor had been changed twice already, and it needs it again...I purchased the extended warranty, so do you think I'd be better off taking it in and letting Chevy do it for me?

Well, maybe if you can get it done for free. The only problem is they will install the same weak motor that GM buys for the F body. So sooner or later it will have to be done again. The Seimens motor at autozone is much stronger and it has a lifetime warranty.

If you have any deductible for your extended warranty, you are better off doing it yourself.

Just my opinion

Yeah if warrenty will cover I would just let them do it. Its free so why not. That one will work for a while and then go out but atleast the first motor wont be out of your pocket.
