LS1 edit ?

I have a friend that talks crap because he had a 99 z28 that he says is faster than my 98 z28. He says his was a ls1 edit that had 415 hp and ran a 8.6 1/8 mi. and 0-60 in 3.9 sec. has anyone heard of this or is he full of it.

I don't know what mods he has, but my stock 99 SS dynoed at 300rwhp, so that makes it about 350+ at the flywheel. So with a few mods and tuning he could be at 415hp easy. Since my dyno, I have done the free ram air mod, TB bypass, installed SLP Loud Mouth and SLP "Y" pipe and SLP lid and smooth bellow. I have not had it dynoed again, but I should be around that without having it tuned. The LS1 is an awsome motor.

Yeah all LS1 edit does is give you more flexibility to tune your cars PCM. No way that you can gain 65+ hp by tuning alone on a stock car. He is full of it. It is possible that he ran a 8.6 18th though. My car ran a 8.7 bone stock with some tire spin. If he had sticky tires its very possible he ran that fast. Although I dont see him at a 3.9 0-60 time.

my 98 z ran a 9.1 1/8th and i just figured that his should run about the same, but i kinda believed that part, just not the 415 hp and the 3.9 0-60.b/c if i am not mistaken a mclaren only runs like a 3.2 0-60.
