buying a Z, what to look for

I'm on the verge of buying a 00 Z28, I've looked at lots of them and drove quite a few in the past few years. This is a M6 car with t-tops. Is there anything special I should be on the look-out for? Are there any special maintenance schedules or recalls to look for. I'm trading a Taurus SHO, so I mind cars that need attention. I just want to know what any problems areas might be. Thanks tons.

Start the car up after it has been sitting up over night. Listen for any knocking sound. It's common on ls-1's, but sometimes the knock can be a little louder than usual. They call it "piston slap". The knocking should go away after about 20 seconds. Some of them you have to hear for it or you may not notice it. Supposedly the rings don't hold up too good on the ls-1's. That's the reason for the oil consumption. I've only seen ls-1's use oil when they are run hard. I've never seen one use it that has been driven "normal."
