I bought a Harwwod SS hood. I am sorry to inform you but the hood did not fit correctly. It still sticks up about 1/4 of an inch by the passenger side corner. The SS hood also came NOT functional on the outside but IS fucntional on the inside. I had a body shop do the cutting for me. Make sure when you have it painted, paint the front bumper, both front 1/4 panel and the hood. My paint shop forgot to do the bumper and it did not match. I had to bring it back and be with out my car for another day and a half. You will have to do some bending of the bracketts that are on your old hood. The pieces that actually latch to the car have to be screwed off your old hood and put on the new as well as the the other brackets. You'll see what I mean when I say (Bend some of the metal back). A LOT of prep work. Fitting and shaving down the edges takes a while. Over all I spent about $1,000 for the hood, painting, mounting and fitting. Good luck. Let me know if your hood fits right. Maybe my body shop sucked or defective hood. Wish you better luck.

Was your car ever wrecked Airborne? I would have sent the hood back, or have them send me another hood. I remember you talking about that a while back. I have always been told that they make good hoods. Let us know how your hood comes out when you put it on.

My car was never wrecked. I was told when buying the hood from www.jegs.com and the body shop that after market fiber glass hoods are never guaranteed to fit properly. I was told since they are fiber glass, they can not be bent or mold as if it was metal. I was also told that the only hood that is guaranteed to fit 100% is the factory GM SS hood, which chevy was selling for about $1400. I bought the Harwood on sale for $400 new.

But, What kind of Hood Struts did you end up using???The stock Z28 ones are too stiff.Did you have to get the SS ones or What???Thanks in Advance

Hey,
I bought my hood from SLP ( www.slpeng.com ). When it arrived, it was still wet. SLP recommended that I put it on my car before painting it and drive around for a week to let it "fit" to my car. However, the body shop did not recommend that ( I don't know why ). There is just one small part on the driver side part by the windsheild that sticks out like a sore thumb (at least to me). With about $1000 even spent, I am very well satisfied with the results. See pics of my car in the gallery.
See ya on the road,
Matt

I know. The hood sucks to put on. Does yours fit right? Mine sticks up a little in the passenger corner. I still have the factory struts. Im just a little easier when closing the hood. I don't slam it. But, you could go to Autozone and buy lesser tension struts. MAKE SURE to paint the whole front end. Did you cut open the hood scoop? If you want to convert to an SS, tear off the Z28 emblems BEFORE the paint job then stick on the SS badge. A lot of Camaro-ss.com Members are real pissed that I did that, but people like them should'nt try to over price there LS1 SS's and maybe Cloning would'nt happen so much. Bought a Z28 LS1 for $11,500 + $3,000 for conversion = $14,500 for a SS clone. I saved the money I would have spent on an original SS to buy 3:73 gears, SLP exhaust, HPPIII, level 1 suspension, SLP CAI, port + polished MAF, TB and other stuff. Rather have my modded clone than a stock SS for the same price. Just my .02 cents.

From what I can see in that pic, it looks like he did a great job fitting it.
