NEW turbo system?

I was just informed of this exhaust mount turbo system. Anyone know any good or bad points about it? here is all the info and videos on it www.ststurbo.com think it is a wiser choice over head and cam package, which is the direction I have chosen to go in?

Im not sure about the system but it looks solid and i understand the concept of mounting the turbo in the real but the thing is what happens when it rains or say you half to go through some gravel and it messes up the system, the idea of no real engine mods is cool though might half to run the system by dad for christmas

I saw this system get installed on a 02 SS in Popular hot rodding and it made good power. I asked about this set up a few weeks ago. Its been around for a while which I didnt know. But if you run some searches on here itll turn up info on that system. Basically what I found out is that It works ok but it has some serious turbo lag issues. I dont think that it really does much until you hit 3K or more rpms. I would like to see someone run it so I could get a first hand opinion on it though!!

Which would you guys say would be the better way to go, this or head cam package. I was thinking the latter.

Go to thunder racing's web site and check out Angie's car. They just finished doing one on her car recently.

Nice results on her car. The only thing I don't like is the rear mounted air filter. It rains alot up here in the NW, and I think that would become a huge problem.

Yeah I agree that the air filter needs to be moved to a less "vulnerable" location. Maybe if it was just moved higher up were so much water and debris wouldnt hit the filter it would be better.

Would I be able to see the same power gains from the head and cam job? Also how reliable is the turbo vs. head and cam? I live in California so it's usually dry (of course its raining now )

Well the turbo is going to be a little harder on the engine. But as long as you dont go crazy and try to run insane amounts of boost then you will likely be just fine with a turbo. The head and cam package is also going to be a more indepth installation then the STS remote turbo. But the with swaping out heads and the cam you are basically upgrading the entire top end of the valvetrain so there will be alot less likelyhood of something going wrong.

For the money, that sounds like a heckova cool product...some of the testimonials were pretty good too, amazing gains on a stock car, let alone one with a head/cam job. Would any of you all trust this?

It's about 4G...for an extra G, you can get an LS6 crate motor..I'd want that lol

I would trust it. I think it works pretty well but Im not convinced until hear some testimonial from someone that isnt trying to sell it to me. If I had 4K to dump in my motor it would be on stuff like a new 383 rotating assembly, heads, cam and things like that.

Well, I can lay it all to rest. I have been running an STS turbo system and let me tell ya... it kicks a'ss! I didn't want to rip into my car because I need it for school and it is just too clean and low miles to mess with. Depending on the RPM you leave from depends on the lag time but if you're hovering around 28 to 3000... she jumps up like it was cracked with a whip. Yes, it was $4K but worth every penny. I can still cruise it like a stock car and get better mileage but when you have a twitch in your right foot...hold on. It does sit low underneath the car but the intake and turbo are between the tires. I haven't had any problems scraping or hitting it. I installed it in about 5 hours, taking my time. Very easy and impressive indeed!

AWSOME!!! I have really been wanting to hear from someone with first hand experience of it. How does it perform from a dead stop. Like a drag launch? Do you have to have the engine spinning 2800 + to see the power from the turbo or does it come in sooner than that of an idle?
