V6 Camaro

Well I currently have a F250 with a 460. That thing is hell on gas mileage. Me and my friend just currently started up a 350 small block, mud bogger project so I have no more use for my truck. I figured it's a waiste going around with 2 things that get 9-10 MPG. I was talking to people and some suggested a camaro. I was looking into the Z28's and saw they had some nice stock times for the price. Im figuring insurance is quiet high on the z28's due to sports car and V8? I saw the V6's liked the looks, but performance wise are they up to par? Do you have a estimate on a 0-60 stock for them? Im guessing insurance is quiet a bit cheaper on the V6's. Im guessing I can get around 5-6k out of my truck. Haven't done to much looking around other than cars.com and carsoup.com. Can you get a decent V6 camaro for 5-6k?

Bro...listen man...I got a 1995 Camaro red...stock...t-tops..stick for 1,500.00 at the auction with 88,000 miles...then I bought another v6 3.4 motor with 41,000 miles on it for 900.00 go to the auction...my car was mint till I got ass packed. I dont know my 0-60 right now but all the stuff I have done to my car now...I can beat a stock Z....so I am suggesting you go to the auction bro!

There are a lot of camaros out there for decent prices, again it will a depend on where you go to get them...(dealer or private seller). I got my 1998 3.8 t-top with about 72000 for 8,000.... but it came with an extended warranty.... Im not sure of the 0-60 times of stock v6's...i could be wrong but i will guess high 15's to low 16's...then again each car will performe differently...if you are to buy a v6...personally i would suggest a 3.8...however...with the right mods any camaro can be made faster...

Lol Kristen I was gonna say!!

J/K

im guessing 0-60 is a little low.. but I have seen lots of 3.8s hit mid 15's stock with a 5spd.. few mods your hitting the 14's

their not ungodly fast but their not SLOW like a honda either!

I picked up mine with loads of stuff lol well not much but I liked it at the time, 1996 red 3.8 5spd. chrome rims not the best in the world. and tinted windows just over 100k on the clock and it ran like a beast after all the work ive put into it.

I paind 5k for my car.

i believe the V6 camaros are still about the same on insurance, cuz they are still under the sports car category.

no they are way different price wise in some and most states. because we dont have a flashie badge and a nice v8 under the hood. insurance companys look toward your age and current driving record. and well yea they also look at HP in a car as to your age and record and such. HP and the whole V8 thing raises it up lots!

That's funny considering you can buy a Honda Pilot (yes, a PILOT) that'll outrun the 3800s. Or a V6 accord that can keep up with LT1s. They're not ALL slow...just the majority of 'em haha.

Expect high 15s in the 1/4, 7 or 8 second 0-60s. Not the fastest thing on the road, but they're nice cars. The people I know with them (that haven't riced 'em out) enjoy it. They're no Z or TA, of course, but still fun to drive.

Please show me a Honda Pilot that will outrun my V6, not bashing you but I would just like to see what your talking about...and I don't mean specs. I know cars that are a full second or two off the tested 0-60's. Oh yeah, and I want to see a V6 Accord hold an LT1. Stock for stock...I dont think so. I have driven a 3800 that put down a BMW 330, and snagged a 350Z off the line (maybe driver error) and held until I let off due to traffic. Hell I was so schocked that I pulled over to look in the engine bay. And hell my 3800 is a car behind my roommates 300ZX by the time he hits third gear and I run out of second.

And yeah, they are a lot of fun to drive...great starter sports cars. Better than getting a BMW with less horsepower or a Civic that looks like crap. I am glad that I got a 3800, it looks good and still has some decent performance.

See ya on the road,
Matt

The way I look at it is...if you take a motor out of a SS,z28,v6...what do you got? A camaro...end of story. You can make any car quick with the right tools....money and credit card

I can't say enough good things about the 3800 motor. They are bullet proof, reliable, and have some very good power for the displacement. No offence to those with the 3.4, but they are not my favorite.
What Accord runs stock for stock with an Fbody LT1?

Mike

yes im with matt you bring me a honda pilot that can out run my car and ill shake your hand, if its not stock then dont even come around because you take a stock V6 and run against a stock pilot and your gonna see that guy turn and run no lie im not bashing you either but their is just no way those little things can out run something rear wheel drive with more torque stock then that thing could out down if it was a actual car board box!

and yes they are all camaros. V6's are cheaper on insurance. but if your just wanting it to drive then do that if you want the performance then I say wait and just get a V8 camaro because they are a better building block! more room to start with. and already built up.. but you can build up one to run really big.. look at my and Matts cars you take and add a 125 shot of N20 and we will be running somewhere close to a stock 98+ SS..

hope you make your decision and always let us know. but also to the comment about the pilot bring it down here to BG this september and we will see who gets to that line first bro! im done with camaro bashing and espically comming from someone who is saying that a Rice patty can race a V8 and beat it or hang with it or w/e!
