Exclamation 12 MPG around the city??

When I purchased my K&N Air Intake, it seems that I only get 12 MPG around the city now. Is this right?? Aren`t I supposed to get better gas mileage? The only mods I have on my car is a, MagnaFlow Exhaust System and a K&N Air Intake. This is for my 02 Z28.

Yeah you should be getting MUCH better then that. Unless you are always romping on it you should be in the 16+ range. I would do a good tune up. New fuel filter, O2 sensors, clean the MAF, new plugs and wires and see what that gets ya.

automatic LS1 with basic mods should get you around 15-17 city, unless you accelerate hard.

mr. bowtie is right on this one. check the O2 sensor, fuel filter, MAF, plugs, and wires. try running an OBD scanner to see if you're throwing any codes.

Mines stock and I get around twenty mpg. If I get my exhaust and intake and my car is only getting 12 after spending the money to help it breath, I'm gonna be peezed off! Check what Mr B said and post back please, you have the exhaust and intake I plan on getting and I would like to see you happy with your combo! Oh yeah, these cars apparently take a little time for the computer to recognize your upgrades, so maybe in fifty miles, it'll treat ya better.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Justin!! I have a intake and exhaust on my TA and it gets about 18 avg. And my Z got about 20 avg with the same mods. Its not the mods that are causing trouble.

I have no idea what could be causing it to be so hungry on gas, but thanks you guys for the reply`s they really helped alot. I will see what I can do to get normal has mileage. The car only has close to 9000 miles on it. Not much for a new car thats 3 years old.

Love them. Killer burnouts and better track times by 3 tenths. Would be even better but my street tires suck for traction. not bad gas mileage about the same on the highway as my 3.23's were. In town is where u notice the change but thats cause i can't help but to get on it from stop lights. Highly reccomended.

Dang that's not bad at all. Were the other sizes the same price or more/less?

Dang, that's not bad either. I was thinking they're going for 500-700 for just the gears (based off a friend with a 4x4 truck wanting 4.56 gears front and back which now that I think about it I bet the quotes were for both sets).
