I crashed my z28 into the center divider on the freeway the other night. I am assuming that it is totaled. Never got to take it to the track with the new heads and cam. So now I am waitin got see what the insurance company will give me if it is totaled and also if I can keep the car and pull the engine and other parts out, such as aftermarket stuff. If I can keep the engine and tranny and some exhaust stuff then I was thinking of trying to buy a cheap car with no engine and such so that I could drop mine right into it. Any suggestions? I was thinking along the lines of a c4 if it were possible. DAMN! This sucks!

dont know if it would drop right into a C4 or not. u could probably find a cheap 93-97Z rolling chassis or a 98-02 even for cheap. dropping a LS1 in a C4 would be pretty kool tho.

Thats a bad deal I was curious to see how she was gonna perform at the track. Id look for a camaro that was just a rolling chasis. Im not a big fan of the c4 vettes.

Maybe, although I am really looking for something that I could drop the engine and tranny into and the exhaust if possible. Anyone know of anything I could get at least the engine into and tranny if possible other than a camaro same year? Or should I just be looking for an f-body that was stolen salvaged? Where is a good place to look for cars missing engines for cheap?

FInd ur self a V6 camaro or firebird and drop it in there. That way u pay insurance for a sixer while still having an LS1. Had a friend with a 4cyl fox body mustang and dropped a 460 in it and only paid insurance for a 4cyl car.

yeah. plus im leaning toward an early 90's vette. Anyone know of anyone doing a swap with an ls1 before?

It's insurance fraud (5 years and/or $50,000 fine), and it's misrepresentation. The least that could happen is the company might not pay your claim if you had an accident. Most adjusters aren't bright enough about cars to discern the difference between a v-6 Camaro and a Z28, further, they aren't going to know what you pay for your insurance, your agent and the claims adjuster rarely ever contact each other, and your premium is your business, not the adjusters.
