finally...

It was warm enough to put on the STB,TBbypass and the fipk II and just had it lowered in the winter so I haven't driven it but a couple times with it lowered, today was the first day I could actually drive it and the cement was dry and pretty warm(finally,MI. winters suk)

So I'm crusin headed for the highway...just noticing the much better feeling on the handling of the car...so I jump on the highway,no traffic,so I slow down to about 30mph in second gear and punch it, rip threw 3rd and put her in 4th and let 'er go...MY GOD that gear is nasty man,LONG AND STRONG jeez it ripped to 130mph QUICK!! How fast do these cars actually go if I was doin 130 in 4th gear?!?!

She handled it perfect, but there was a SLIGHT real slight shake in the front...I'm getting the kenny brown SFC's next that wont stop the little shake would it?? What will??I'm also thinkin of getting the hotchkis sway bars, maybe these will help?

was the shake in the front when you were going fast, or when you applied the brakes? you could have a missalignment due to the springs, or if you were on the brakes at the time, it could be a warped rotor.

Or one of the tires could be slightly out of balance. If its just a little bit off it will shake some when your going that fast. And no sfc wont stop that.

Yeah, i have the same kind of problem but at high speeds it doesn't shake but when i start to slow down with the brakes it seems to shake, i was wondering if it were just part of the aerodynamics or something because everything is dandy with my car.

If its shaking when your slowing down its because of the brakes. Your rotors are slightly warped. Not uncommon at all on our cars. My TA rotors were warped by the time the car had 8K on the clock.

Well,It wasn't while I was braking...it was only after I hit about 100mph that I started to notice it...it was real slight barely noticeable and I had a four wheel allignment on one of those fancy computer thingys that tell you the toe and camber and stuff and everything is good....I wonder what it could be?? swaybars??I'm not sure, but I'am sure these cars are sick!!

whats the fastest you guys have gone??whats the top speed??

I heard people say like 180mph but I'm kinda skeptical on that one.

I just hit 155 the other night when some ricers tried to out run me. And hey bowtie, what did you have to do to take care of your warped rotors? Did you have to replace the whole thing? If so, how much did it cost?

Usually, if the rotors are not that old, you can go almost anywhere and get them turned. Some auto parts stores can do it for you, but I'm not sure how much it costs. Shouldn't be that much. And Shaun, to me your problem sounds like you could still have unbalanced tires. How old are the tires? When you got the alignment done, did they balance the tires as well?

hmmm I dont know if they balanced the tires when they did the allignment..the tires are prolly 2 yrs old, there like brand new the guy who ownd the car before me is an associate of mine and I know he let the car sit most the time....now that I'm thinking about it he had it sittin in his storage shed on the ground so maybe the tires need rebalanced

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. The first year I had my Z, the tires were in great shape - no vibration at all. Then I stored it for the winter, but it just sat on the ground and I think the tires sitting in the same spot for so long kind of wrecked them. I get vibration now around 100+. New tires are just at the bottom of a long list of things I need to do to my Z! Good luck with yours!

Ya there is plenty of other things I'd rather spend my money on other than new tires so I wont get a slight wobble when I'm doin 130 lol...I prolly wont due that very often anyway its a vert not a drag car and my tires are pretty sweet actually so....SFC's,LCA's,Headers and catback, sweet rotors and pads, steel braided brake lines and a ls6 intake, just to name a few, will be ahead of tires. LOL....when I first joined this site I said I wasn't gonna mod D@MN IT!!

130ish mph seems to be my cars magic point. I don't really want to take it too much further than that right now. My top speed in my Z is about 135(that I care to take it). Fastest I've driven was about 175. Fastest I've been in a car when I wasn't driving was just under 200, not a very nice feeling having the ass-end of the car floating from side to side. Never been that fast since, but it is an experience.

I used to own a cobra kit car and if we didnt get the pinion angle just right it would vibrate like that. even at 150. Does lowering these things change that angle?

just a thought.

I was playing with a rearend gear calculator the other day and it said with 4.56 you could get the car to 232 mph with 6th gear at 6000 rpms. I dought the car could handle that speed without major suspension mods.

I've had mind to 135 and couldn't slow down for $hit. I would definitely do a brake upgrade if I planned on going that fast very often (but like shaun said, it's a curser not a drag car ).
