HELP!!reving 1500rpm's in(P)&(N)!!!!

What could be happening to make my car rev up to almost 1500rpm's when I go from Drive to Park, or from Drive to Neutral. At 1500 rpm's, when I go to put it in Drive, you can imagine the jerk it sends throughout the car. I don't understand why it is doing this all of a sudden, this car is pampered!! Any help or ideas are much appreciated.

Just curious, is there a time when an ls1 camaro starts to have a lot of problems, mileage wise? And what should I do to check it, as you say AMK, I don't want to go down to dealership, pay dealership prices just to get them to say, "Oh, well, we couldn't figure out what was going on a couple of weeks ago, but we're going to charge you $200 for our time and labor, oh, and the extra miles we put on your car "trying" to figure out what the problem was. I have a pretty good idea how those guys are, I worked at a dealership before.(Some of those guys are shady) But seriously though, if you have an idea that I should do to check it, let me know, much appreciated.

You might have had a vacuum leak that temporarily sealed itself.

Air entering the intake system after the MAF not being accounted for by the MAF can cause erratic idle conditions. Usually from tear in the elbow or bad vacuum hoses. It causes the IAC to 'hunt' for a steady idle position. Also a dirty MAF can cause high idle conditions as well as a sticky IAC.

IAC-Idle Air Controller
MAF- Mass Air Flow meter

You could squirt some wd 40 on the throttle cable. Won't hurt but it might help.

a while back mine would go from about 500rpm resting in drive to around 1000 rpm, the dang thing moved forward if i was not pushing harder on the brake, it also sounded like it was going to die on me for a bit, took it to a mechanic, they test drove it, it didnt do it for them, they checked everything, did lil work here and there, hasnt done it since...

I have 79k strong on mine and the only problem i have had has been getting the fuel pump replaced and that was at 70k. Besides that nothing at all, she makes a little squeek noise in the winter but now that its sunny and nice outside that noise is gone. It really depends on if you keep up your oil changes, as well as having premium gas all the time and not just when your going to race.

Well sometimes it revs up higher than usual before changing gears, kinda like the ASR is off. But like I said, doesn't do it all the time, kinda finding a connection here: It does it more when the AC is on. I don't know?? I do know what I have in my checking account though, and that money doesn't say Z28 on it yet. I know that a bad way to look at it, but that is just the fact right now. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has ever been there before...

The AC robs a lot of power/gas from you and compensates by idleing a bit higher. This is normal in ALL cars. If you want to test it out, find a crappy car with ac and floor it w/o it on and then w/it on. You can tell a big difference. It's just cuz your car has 4x as many horses that it's not as noticable. Save your money and yes I've been there many a times with you and will be in the future probably too!
