tires to blame?

I went to the track for the first time this year! i proud to say i beat everyone thrown at me, however i am not so proud of my e/t's. my 60's where in the 2.6 range all night! Everyone there was having traction problems, however a few did very well. My best run was 14.8 @ 101 mph with a raction time of .053. I just could not hook up in first for the life of me. I am getting new Perellis put on next week, is there anything else you think i could do to improve my 60' times?

If you put 373 gears in you will be quicker 0-60 as well as reduce 1/4 mile runs.

What track did you go too? I see you are from Wisconsin...If you went to Great Lakes Dragaway i guruntee you that it was the track prep, and it being cold out. If your tires are bald yah, that might have something to do with it. Judging by your mph that is at least a 13.9-14.2 et..

my problem wasnt with acceleration, it was with grip......what are the chances of tearing up my rear end with drag radials?

It was most likley the track. They dont prep it very well at this time of the year. Also there isnt much rubber down right now. It is slick for everybody, unless of course you heat the hell out of a set of slicks. Give it a month or so, if your still having traction issues then get drag radials. The only way you are really going to destroy your rear end is if the car really bites hard.

If you run drag radials your going to hook up much harder then you will on street tires, and your chances of breaking your rear end go up drastically. Im not saying that it will happen like the first time out, but it will happen if you run them very regularly or very hard.
