Engine Noise

Well, I have been having this engine noise lately. From everything I have learned it appears that it is a lifter problem (lifter clatter) or a pushrod problem or something of that nature (definitely not piston slap). My car is still under warranty so I take it to the dealership. They are now trying to tell me that it is carbon buildup on the pistons that is causing the noise (the noise is similar to the sound that smacking two spoons together would sound like). The say the carbon build up is from my babying the car and not driving it like it should be driven.
Does this sound even remotely credible or does anyone feel, like I do, that they are full of shi*????? Obviously they are not getting out of this that easy but I hoping that once, just once, they wouldn't try to weasel their way out of it.
Damn dealerships.....

One of the bearings in his bottom end went out and it wasnt working right, it will have a knock. Same thing as when someone says the rods are knocking in the engine. Its a very bad deal. The motor has to be pulled and rebuilt if thats the problem. Chances are its a noise lifter or something like that.

I thought I had a ticking lifter, turnes out it was bad plug wires. Something to look at.

Little clicking noises are actually your fuel injectors firing, that's normal. Big ticks or knocks are something to be worried about.

A light tick or click probably isnt a big deal. The way to check if your plug wires are bad is to go out at night and start the car. Look all the plug wires over. If one is jumping spark youll see it easily. Could be a nosiey lifter, could be the injectors, sould be alot of differernt things. Without hearing it its hard to diagnose.

a buddy of mine that has a vette was saying this is true and is somewhat common in the vette world. those guys are afraid to drive it like they stole it... therefore... He did say that there is this liquid that you put directly into the cylinder via the spark plug hole...you let it sit.... then you fire it off and it smokes like crazy but it cleans it out....

anyway. let us know if you get this resolved. hopefully its nothing to $$$$....
