LS1's cannot be chipped. They need to be retuned either by a programmer (Hypertech) or by someone with a progam that allows them to change the programming of the computer. I got a 12 rwhp and 19 rwtq gain from a good dyno tune, cost $200 the look on the dyno opperators face after the 6th run (348 RWHP and 375 RWTQ) priceless.

Sorry for being so naive on this subject, but I am getting out of motocross and getting into cars. I just bought my 2002 SS a couple of months ago and am looking to learn as much as I can so I can build it properly and still drive it daily. So when I ask this question, please don't shoot me.
Exactly what is done on a dyno tune and who is qualified to do something like this? |
