Newbie to z28 site

Just dropping in to say hello ya'll....

I've been a member of the SLP BB for a little over a year, but their site is down and I'm branching out. I go to Chirp3rd and GMinside news alot to browse.

I don't have much going on with my car right now since I just wrecked the right front fender and bumper striking a hydrant:o .

It's going into a dealership for repair under insurance coverage with new parts (front bumper, right fender, headlamp, z/28 emblem, painting etc.). I hope they repair and paint her right.

Anything I should tell them or warn them about? Any tips on inspection? Who knows the exact GM procedure they should follow?

'Nuff said.

Hey,
WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! Hope we can help you with all of your questions and maybe you can help us with ours. Here's a question for you, do you have the SLP Ultra Z hood, because I do and I couldn't live without it...anyways...
See ya on the road,
Matt

Sorry for the late reply.

I thought about getting one of those Ultra-Z hoods for the "ram-air" effect, but have stayed with the original. I've been debating about stripes lately. Hood stripe versus Hockey stripe. Love to have a 2000 SS LPM M6 though....

Hey,
One of the best places for stripes is http://www.3rdgendecals.com/index.htm . They have all kinds and all colors, not to mention that they are some really great guys. I got a question for you...I see your located in upstate SC. I am a student at Clemson University. I hope maybe we can meet up with you and a couple of the other boys from upstate SC.
See ya on the road,
Matt

Hey Matt,

Good to meet ya.

There is an upstate section of www.SCFYB.com but they're not that organized. However, there are opportunities to meet other F-body car people around here...Ware Shoals, Greer Dragways, this month's cruise-in at Kevin Whitaker Chevy on the 20th, and the SCFYB guys meet at Hooters and Sonic on Saturday nights (I went to one - 5 people )

Looks like I'll be incogneto for a week or two with my ride going in for repairs on Monday. After that just look around for a LPM Z/28 with a skinny red-headed dude beside it - that'd be me...

repairs

On your repairs..First tell the body shop you want them to use only Genuine GM replacement parts...and if the work order say to replace something make sure they replace it...either have them show you the old part or tell them you want all the parts they replace...the reason I say this is because some bodyshops will try to refinish some parts to put more money in their pocket, this means bending some parts back out to look like they have been replaced...I know because I've been though it...When the work is done...make sure the paint matches...there are no runs or pits and no trash in the paint...and look at the interior of the car and make sure it's been cleaned out and there is no dust of hand prints on it. It should look like the damage never happend. If you do all of this you shouldn't have to take it back a second time and it will be a good experience for you.
